Title: Game Support

I figure that once we are done adding support for all of the Keen games, then we could go back and add support for all of id's games before they started making 3D games, because the rest are all somewhat compatible with our current engine. This means all Dangerous Dave games, and all others up to and including Shadow Night. Then we find any other games that are even somewhat compatible with our then very robust engine and add support for those games as well.

Hopefully when we are all done with our engine, we will have the 7 Keen games and a library of at least 10 other games. This will make our engine very robust and be an excellent engine for the creation of new games, with a huge base from quite a few games!

This brings into question the version numbering, which needs to be figured out sometime. We really should have the version that supports Keen Dreams be v1.0, and then from that have them continue to use 4 numbers like 1.0.0.0 except any extra 0s get removed from the end.

That way any bug fixes would be based on 0.0.0.1 increase is minor bug change, 0.0.1 increase is major bug change, 0.1 is major feature upgrade, like new games, and an increase of 1 in the versioning would only come after a major rewrite of the system like what occurred from 0.3.0.4 to 0.3.1 and therefore most likely won't happen. We probably won't reach a point further than 1.5 as far as versions go before we stop updating.

Overall, we can discuss what games to add support for, and exactly how to break up the versions to achieve what I have mentioned in my post, I would love to hear everyone's feedback so as to make the best decision. Thanks for reading this really long post, I'm finished for now.

Well, I don't have much to say except the fact, that the main idea of the new engine is to support old dos games like Dangerous Dave. The good thing is that the file formats are similar.

We will support them after Keen Dreams.

About versioning it's good idea, but I would say, let the time decide that. The next release will 0.3.1. I really want to leave it that way and 0.4 for at least Keen 4. I promised that to many fans. Everything else is open...

Yes, that is what I think as well, I'm just trying to decide what to do. I guess we could support Keens 4 & 5 first, then 6 in the next version, and then Multiplayer upgrades, then level editor, then tile info editor, then basic versions of other editors, sound/text/graphics, then Keen Dreams support.
